Different Types of Golf Bags

Upon entering a golf store you will notice a wide range of bags to choose from. Much like the offerings from your favorite coffee shop, there are numerous choices.
Different sizes and styles cater to a specific type of golfer and his/her technique.
The three main types of styles are carry bags (or stand bags), cart bags and staff bags.
Let’s take a look at each!

Carry Bags

A carry bag is a great option for the driving range or when you plan to walk the course.
They are compact, lightweight, easy to carry and collapsible for easy storage.
The average carry bag can only hold a handful of clubs, balls, and tees, making it ideal for golfers who do not want to bring their full set to the course or range.

Most of these carriers come in either a one strap or two-strap configuration with thick padding that provides shoulder and back comfort while walking from hole-to-hole.
In addition, many modern carry bags, usually referred as stand bags, come with a pair of foldout legs that form a tripod to make equipment readily available on the course.

Cart Bags

Cart bags are essential for those who use a riding, push or pull cart on the course.
These carriers offer a number of versatile features in addition to club, tee and ball space, and are wider than the traditional carry options.

What’s more, cart bags provide ample room for storage and are constructed with sturdy, long-lasting materials that protect through questionable weather conditions.
Designed to fit easily on the back of your cart, this type of luggage is perfect for golfers who are not particularly concerned about weight, but still need ample storage space for their golf essentials.

Staff Bags

Staff bags, also known as tour bags, are the largest and sturdiest choice.
Available for athletes who are especially serious about the sport, these bags are used by every PGA Tour professional and have proven their reliability time and again.

These elite-level bags are made with high quality leather and other heavy materials to effectively endure any type of weather.
Additionally, as the heaviest and largest variety of golf carriers, these are not typically designed to fit on the back of a cart.
In fact, few amateurs utilized staff bags in everyday play.

Determining which bag to carry down the fairway is purely your decision, but the choice should be made after doing some research and investigation.
Hopefully this guide will help you find the right match.
