Back in the game.
Just started playing again after a 30 year absence, so call me a senior beginner for reference. My slower swing speed requires a softer ball and this ball works for me. I outdrive 2/3 of my sr golf league more importantly they are straight and long. Shaping the ball is difficult to do (by design) and I have to really open the clubface at impact to get the slightest fade, forget about draws I was never good at them and to get one I really need to close the clubface resulting in a duck hook. Feel of the ball as it comes off the club is soft and confidence building. I'm hitting about 2/3 of the fairways and rarely do I venture far from the first cut. My fairway woods have never been better and haven't lost a ball in the last 7 rounds of play.
Supersoft has a great feel off the putter again confidence building. Greenside spin or lack of it, I have yet to figure it out, being tentative around the green hasn't helped me in this area. I've done side by side comparisons with other balls and this gives me about 8 more yards off the driver and straight, straight, straight. Last year was my return to golf and I've since shaved 30 strokes off of 1st round score. Just last week I jumped from 8th to 2nd in my league, but I expect that to fall a bit as my handicap drops. I play Calaway Supersoft for league play because it is a consistent performer and works for me.
