Golfballs.com Expert Description

Callaway designed the Chrome Soft X Golf Ball to fit a wide range of players. It has quickly become the fastest growing tour quality golf ball on the market based on its phenomenal performance, spin, and distance.

Soft Core

The dual, soft, fast core provides more distance and faster ball speed off long clubs, while short clubs will experience more control.

Spin Control Mantles

The combination of the spin-regulating sub-mantle and the tri-ionomer mantle help to control the spin no matter what club is being used.

Cover Design

The ultra-thin thermoplastic urethane cover is soft to provide a nice feel off the face of the club. It uses HEX aerodynamic dimples to achieve longer and faster hits.

Product Features of Callaway Chrome Soft X Golf Balls:

  • Soft Feel with Tour-level Distance
  • Engineered to promote faster ball speed and distance
  • Longer Carry from HEX Aerodynamics
  • 4-piece construction
  • 90 compression
  • Avg Rating: 5 out of 5

This ball does not fly true and straight if you do not hit it flush. Depending on how you catch the ball on the club, you might get a duck hook or a sudden right turning loop of the ball. I was disappointed with the performance. I love the chrome soft; however, this ball is soo inferior, even for the price. I prefer the the Bridgestone e6 soft for the price. It’s much more consistent.

I have a friend who only plays Callaway golf balls, so I purchased these as a birthday gift with customization. Great value for a quality golf ball.

At the end of last summer I bought 3 dozen prior generation Chrome Softs for $29/dozen. I kicked myself for not buying a couple more dozen since it was probably going to be the last shot at them. A few months later, I saw the same deal (might have been there the whole time but, obviously, I was out of the golf ball market for bit). I jumped on it again. Great deal for top of the line, golf balls.

I have played Hex Chrome for about 4 years and just really enjoy the feel when hitting a solid shot. The 2 dozen I ordered came in new boxes and I am waiting for warmer weather to finally get out and hit them again. I recommend these to any average skilled golfer.

    Frequently asked questions about

    What does prior generation mean?

Prior Generation simply means it is not the newest version/model of the golf ball. The golf balls is new in condition but may be a prior year’s model/version of the golf ball.

I want recommendations for my club head speed between 90-100 mph. Currently the Callaway SR2 is my favorite, however when they are not available, what do you recommend by competitors brands?
