TaylorMade R11S Driver Overview
The TaylorMade R11S driver continues to set the bar in the golf industry. In 2011, TaylorMade introduced the R11, which set a new standard in driver adjustability by giving golfers three options on how to adjust the club: face angle, loft (independently of each other), and ball flight. The new R11S driver improves on this technology by giving you a much wider range of adjustability.
5-Position Adjustable Soleplate
The new 5-position adjustable soleplate (ASP) of the TaylorMade R11S allows you to choose from five face-angle positions. This gives you more options to align the face into your preferred position at address. In addition, the R11S lets you open the face, as well as close it, a maximum of 3 degrees. This flexibility allows to you better control the direction of your golf shots.
5-Flight Control Technology
With the TaylorMade R11S driver, Flight Control Technology (FCT) allows you to adjust the loft of the club by as much as 1.5 degrees, giving you great influence over your launch angle and spin-rate. This is a .5 degree increase over the original
TaylorMade R11 driver.
Movable Weight Technology
The adjustability of the R11S continues with the Movable Weight Technology (MWT). Two weight ports are engineered into the club, one in the heel and one in the toe - a 10-gram weight and a 1-gram weight. You can configure the weight according to your desired ball flight. Placing the heavier weight in the toe port will make the ball fade, while installing the heavier weight in the heel port results in a draw. If you prefer a more neutral setting, 4-gram and 6-gram weights are available separately.
"Three Dimensions to Distance"
Together, the ASP, FCT and MWT create the "Three Dimensions to Distance". Tuning each of these dimensions to fit your individual swing will create launch conditions that promote unparalleled accuracy and maximum distance. A wrench is included so that you can easily tune the settings to your liking.
Optimum Contrast for Alignment
The innovation of the TaylorMade R11S doesn't stop with its adjustability. The white crown color provides optimum contrast against the ground and its black PVD clubface makes the driver even easier to aim. This advance is even more apparent in lower light, such as shaded tee boxes, overcast days or early morning/evening hours. The white crown color of the R11S also eliminates high-intensity "hot spots" caused by reflected sunlight that tends to make gloss-finish metalwoods hard to line up.
460cc Titanium Head
While the original TaylorMade R11 boasted a 440cc clubhead, the R11S driver reaches the USGA limit for head size at 460cc, which promoted much greater forgiveness and power. In addition, the new Thick-Thin Crown design saves weight that's redistributed to lower the center of gravity (CG), promoting a higher launch angle for increased carry and distance.
Inverted Cone Technology
The R11S incorporates TaylorMade's Inverted Cone Technology, which expands the face area that delivers high COR and fast ball speed. What this does is promote more ball speed and distance when you don't hit the center of the clubface. It's simply more forgiving, swing after swing.
