Golfballs.com Expert Description

TaylorMade TP5 golf balls are simply the most complete Tour balls ever created. With their 5-layer construction, the TP5 is engineered to perform with every club and has zero compromises due to their patented Tri-Fast Core and Dual-Spin Cover technology.

Tri-Fast Core

The Tri-Fast Core on TP5 golf balls features a unique 3-layer system along with progressive compression, which enables maximum energy transfer and allows you to generate massive speed on full shots with your woods and irons. Simply put, the Tri-Fast Core gives you awesome speed and distance.

Dual-Spin Cover

The Dual-Spin Cover on the TP5 features a contrasting ultra-soft cast urethane cover that works with a semi-rigid inner cover to create maximum interaction between the cover and your club's grooves. This results in exceptional spin performance on full wedge shots and precise control around the green.

How does the TP5 compare to the TP5x?

While the TaylorMade TP5 is extremely long, the TP5x is a bit longer in distance. The TP5 will result in a mid trajectory compared to the TP5x's high trajectory and it won't result in as much iron spin as the TP5x. Finally, the TP5 will feel softer than the TP5x at impact.

Features of the TaylorMade TP5 Golf Balls:

  • 5-piece construction with 3-layer core system
  • Tri-Fast Core and Dual-Spin Cover combine to perform with every club
  • Features progressive compression, enabling maximum energy transfer and generating massive speed on full shots
  • Ultra-soft cast urethane cover and a semi-rigid inner-cover creates max interaction between the cover and club grooves
  • 83 Compression

The TP5X cost me 5 strokes today
10/11/2017
Just got done playing 18 holes for the first time with the TP5X. Great ball off the tee. Not quite as long as the Pro V's that I usually play, but miss hits were not as bad. But second shots and wedge shots...OMG, these balls back up big time. I may have to go a club stronger to the green because when these balls back up I was left with a longer putt (5 strokes lol). Very impressed.

I like the ball. I have played the Titleist NXT Tour for several years as I don't like the spin of the Pro V's. The TP5 has a slightly harder cover than the NXT and has slightly more spin. So far, it's a nice combination. It is a bit longer off the irons.

Soft feel yet long

I am constantly trying new balls looking for one that is soft yet keeps its distance. This ball has done that. The flight is piercing and around the greens you cant hear the ball come off of your chipping iron. I will continue to try other brands however this one is the best so far.
