Golfballs.com Expert Description
For a club that delivers time-tested results, look no further than the PING TR 1966 Putters. Named after the year Karsten Soleheim designed the first Anser putter and changed the game, these clubs take that basic technology and advance it further with True-Roll faces, classic lines, and simple alignment adjustments.
Anser and Anser 2
The TR 1966 putters come in two slightly different models, the Anser and the Anser 2. The Anser appeals to the traditionalists, with its lack of alignment line, a rounded heel, curved toe, manganese bronze PVD coloring, and a slightly bolder top line. The Anser 2 contains a white alignment line for simplified aiming, less rounded toe and heel shaping, a blast stainless steel finish, and a less thick top line. Both clubs come in a 340-grams, work best with a slight-arc stroke style, have 35-inch stepped shafts, and a 4-degree adjustable lie in either direction.
True-Roll (TR) Technology
The TR in the name stands for the inclusion of True-Roll technology into both of these putters. Incorporated into the precision milled face design, TR technology generates up to 50-percent faster and more consistent ball speeds to prevent accidental three-putts.
Features of the PING TR 1966 Putters:
- Anser putter has bronze PVD finish, rounded toe and heel, thick top line and no alignment line
- Anser 2 putter has stainless steel finish, less rounded toe and heel, a thinner top line, and a white alignment aid
- Contains True-Roll face for faster, more consistent ball speed for a more reliable play
- Both clubs have 340-gram heads, a +/- 4-degree lie angle, 35-inch standard shaft, and work best with slight-arc swing types
