Manufacturer Description

For example, the variable thickness face of each of their metal woods is precision-milled to create higher ball velocities for significantly longer tee shots. And, the faces are robotically plasma welded to the club body for greater accuracy and consistency.

Great Question.
The answer is both! They go hand in hand together. That's why so many companies taught High Launch clubs or balls. More carry, etc.....More height should translate into more distance.
