Technical Data

Swing Speed
Swing speed is a measure of velocity, in miles per hour, of how fast the club head of a golf club is traveling at the point it makes impact with the golf ball. Swing speed can be recorded by a launch monitor or other electronic radar devices.

Handicap
Balls designed for higher handicap golfers generally have harder covers that result in lower spin rates with irons and drivers. Balls designed for low handicap golfers tend to offer your more control and spin.

Feel (Compression)
Feel is a term that considers the firmness or compression of the golf ball. Typically the softer the golf ball feels, the lower the compression rating. A general rule of thumb about golf ball compression is that players with a lower swing speed should use a lower compression ball to take advantage of the added spring affect.

9 Iron Spin
9 iron spin is regarding the backward rotation of the golf ball in flight or the measured rate of that rotation. Most golfers think of backspin more in relation to shorter irons and wedges. Backspin is what causes some wedge shots to "back up" on the green, or roll backwards after hitting the green.

I just played my first round. I thought the feel around the greens were comparable to the 330x Bridgestone that coat 45 dollars. I am sold. They feel with the putter will take some practice cause of the soft feel. I loved them and will always have them in my bag.

Great Ball

I have been playing this ball since they came out. I am a 10 handicap and was playing pro v but won a couple of these boxes and played them. I was surprised at the soft feel and the durability. I hit hard and long getting 300+ yards on my drives and I find it forgiving. In the irons, i can put the right amount of spin on the ball to make it do what I want. You cant make it spin as much as a pro v but I would trade that for the forgiveness and durability that the 50 provides. These balls have a great price and you can pickup nearly 4 dozen for the price of 1 box of pro v. I can afford either, but I stock my bag with 50's.

Amazing

I have been writing for golf magazines since 1982, and have tried tons of products for review. For the money, this is the best golf ball ever for the average golfer. Explodes off the tee and easy to work with around the greens. Don't let your ego get in the way. Try 'em.

I've been playing these balls off an on for about a year. For my swing, I can hit them as far as a ProV1 consistently. For the money you can't do better. Age 66

Frequently asked questions about

I have just started playing the Wilson 50 Elite ball and love it. Now that I have started reading more about it, I heard that Wilson may be discontinuing this ball and replacing it with the Wilson Duo. Say it ain't so!

IT AIN'T SO! The Duo replaced the D:25 but I certainly don't see them doing away with the 50 Elite. For the money it's a great golf ball.

You told me on the phone back in the spring you were going to get the Elite Fifty in Yellow. When will this happen?

We're hoping soon. The issue is that they are being made overseas for us and the it take 4-6 months where we initially thought 3 months. Sorry for the delay.
