Finally got through last year's supply of golf balls (scattered to the woods and waters of Maine) and got to try the latest version of the Pro V1. The most remarkable improvement is its stability in the wind. Last week I played in very blustery conditions (wind gusts to approx. 30 mph). The ball was unbelieveably stable in crosswinds! I consistently overcompensated for the effect of cross breezes on the front nine, and ended up essentially in the area at which I had aimed. On the back nine I ignored any crosswinds and aimed directly at my target. The Pro V1 stayed on course. Amazing!

I have used the Pro V1 and 1x for the past 3-4 years. The older models have been great but this one is 5 times better... it's more durable, it feels a bit softer and spins like crazy within 150 yards of the green. Titleist has once again made a great golf ball!

Is a golf ball with more dimples on it a better ball or does the amount matter at all?

The number of dimples matter a lot. A ball without dimples creates significantly more drag behind the ball. Believe it or not, a dimpled or pocked ball will travel more than a smooth one.

In past years I have ordered two or three dozen balls in the prior Pro V1 model ball all with the same number, number one. Is that still possible and if so how does one do that on line? Kind regards, Dennis Jamison.

While the prior generation can't be ordered you can order this one with that number. Simply put in your order notes your requirements. We'll take care of it. There is a cosmetic blemish on the ball that doesn't qualify the ball to become a regular Pro V1. Typically you'll never find the blemish though, it's that minute.

Not much. The practice ball may have a cosmetic blemish where the X-out may have something wrong internally as per the brand. We've actually never seen a problem with either though.

The 2011 Pro V1 is designed to provide a greater level of backspin with to counteract the decrease in spin rates generated from new and conforming clubs to the USGA groove rule of 2010. The cover durability of the 2011 ball is also enhanced for better playability.
