A general rule of thumb about golf ball compression is that players with a lower swing speed should use a lower compression ball to take advantage of the added spring affect.

I miss the SoLo

I really liked the DT SoLo. I bought a box of DT Carry balls since I can't buy the SoLo anymore. I'm disappointed. From my experience, the ball doesn't hold greens well. I was playing a tournament - in the rain - and the ball was bouncing over wet, soft greens. I hit a 6 iron onto a par 3 green that bounced high and hard as though I had nailed a cart path. I miss the SoLo. Hopefully, Titleist will rework the DT ball for 2010.

I was previously playing the Noodle and found one of these on the course. When hit solid this ball just rockets into the sky. I don't agree with the previous reviews this ball feels pretty soft to me around greens and chips well. Also the ball is very durable and you can expect the cover to not be damaged easily

This ball is like hitting a rock. Bring back the DT Solo. Most of the players that I play with used the DT Solo. We have all switched to another brand of balls. If we wanted to hit a rock hard ball we would have bought the Top-Flite XL for about half the price.

I was introduced to the DT Carry by a friend and have not hit another ball since. For me, this ball just feels fantastic. Give it a try and see if you agree.

Walmart carries a brand of Titleist golf ball called the HP3 series. How does it differ from its current line or is it a "Test ball" for future ball R & D. Please clarify as no one at

The HP3 ball is a "big box" ball that is marketed mainly to large scale retailers that do not have a higher end golf selection. The HP3 is a distance ball with medium compression. You should notice similar characteristics to the DT series. The compression of the ball is not public information provided by Titleist but my guess is that it is near 80. Spin rates are going to be very low compared to the Pro V1.

I use square groove wedges. Which cover is better to help spin a ball backwards on a green, surlyn or urethane?

Urethane covers will promote a much higher backspin RPM than a suryln ball.
