Technical Data

Swing Speed
Swing speed is a measure of velocity, in miles per hour, of how fast the club head of a golf club is traveling at the point it makes impact with the golf ball. Swing speed can be recorded by a launch monitor or other electronic radar devices.

Feel (Compression)
Feel is a term that considers the firmness or compression of the golf ball. Typically the softer the golf ball feels, the lower the compression rating. A general rule of thumb about golf ball compression is that players with a lower swing speed should use a lower compression ball to take advantage of the added spring affect.

9 Iron Spin
9 iron spin is regarding the backward rotation of the golf ball in flight or the measured rate of that rotation. Most golfers think of backspin more in relation to shorter irons and wedges. Backspin is what causes some wedge shots to "back up" on the green, or roll backwards after hitting the green.

Golfballs.com Staff Review: from Tiffany
Callaway Tour i(s) golf ball is great greenside golfball
2/13/2010
The new Callaway Tour i(s) golf ball is a great greenside ball for all golfers. The new 4-piece Tour i(s) utilizes second generation Dual Core technology, making it easier for golfers of all abilities to generate maximum short-game spin. This softer ball has newer HEX Aerodynamics pattern with geometries to reduce drag and cuts through the wind with a strong, penetrating ball flight. Its lower compression ball feels and plays softer than any other ball round. I recommend this ball for anyone looking for so

I have played the tour ix and was playing the i(x) and loved the ball. I'm only 5'-6" so I struggle for distance off the tee. I switched to the i(s) thinking I would score better around the green

Thanks for the question. The i(s) is a lower compression than the i(x) which is confusing when you say you swing 112+. The only reason I could think of is that you do not generate a lot of backspin with your driver. Therefore, the lower compression i(s) spins a little more off of the driver and results in more carry off of the tee.

Thank you, Dustin. Your answer makes sense, sometimes when I would hit my driver the ball would look like it was knuckle balling when it left the tee box.

you may also want to try the diablo golf balls. very low spin off the driver and would give you great distance with your tee ball due to the low compression
