Product Description

In 1966 Karsten Solheim introduced the now-legendary PING Anser putter. This 50th Anniversary Anser putter was produced from one of the two original right-hand molds. The first mold was machined by Karsten; the second, which is slightly different, was machined by his son, Allan, and is occasionally referred to as the "slope-side mold." The radiuses on both of these hand-machined tools were hand-finished with file and sand paper by Karsten. Current PING Chairman and CEO John A. Solheim built most of the original Ansers, starting with machining and grinding the raw castings and continuing on through final assembly.

The original putters were built from components produced by four US manufacturers: East Bay Brass Foundry, of Richmond, California; True Temper Sports, of Emory, Mississippi; Golf Pride, of Southern Pines, North Carolina, now a division of Eaton Corporation; and 3M of St. Paul, Minnesota. This 50th Anniversary Anser putter is made of components produced in the USA by those same companies. East Bay used the original 1966 Anser tooling to produce the sand-cast heads. True Temper supplied the high-step shaft, and Golf Pride molded the PING PP58 grip, both of which were designs used in the original model. 3M is, and was, the manufacturer of the grip tape.

True to our commitment to continuous improvement, in these anniversary putters unique tungsten heel and toe weights have been incorporated into the iconic Anser heads, which have then been precisely milled, to produce outstanding lines and look. After the key surfaces were machined, John Solheim hand ground the sole of each head, the heads were lightly tumbled and aged, and then the putters were assembled. We are pleased to say that every 50th Anniversary Anser in this limited offering of 1550 putters, 775 from each mold, was built in our Phoenix, Arizona factory, and is a product of the United States of America.
