The Callaway XR Iron is an iron built for speed. Callaway took the Cup 360 that redefined ball speed in fairway woods and brought it to irons. The improved Cup 360 acts like a spring on shots hit low on the face and increases ball speeds everywhere else on the face, too.
The distance is incredible, and that's just the start. Callaway XR's
Flew the first 3 greens until I figured out the XR's go at least 1 club further than my Mizuno's. Ball takes off the club like a flyer, yet spins well and good bite on the greens. They look a little clumsy and thicker than what I'm used to but very happy with the playability. Played fine from rough, which was my concern looking at them. They do scratch up some and will probably look pretty beat up with more use. I was looking for more an easier iron to hit than what I've had in the past, I don't know how it gets any better.
