TaylorMade RocketBallz Tour Fairway Wood Overview
TaylorMade Golf is proud to unveil the most innovative and longest high performance fairway wood they've ever created. The new RocketBallz Fairway Wood is a byproduct of extensive research and development to uncover breakthrough performance, most specifically increased ball speed.
RocketBallz Technology
The name RocketBallz is a special part of the product story, an engineering dream first realized in a prototype Rescue clubhead. In search of the first significant fairway wood innovation as it relates to COR and ball speed since steel construction was introduced in the 1980's, TaylorMade discovered and developed advancements that collectively produced RocketBallz technology.
Major challenges had to be overcome in developing the unique RocketBallz technology. Once of those challenges was including the need to create a durable yet flexible face/sole structure that contained a deep sole pocket. Additionally, a deeper face design and low center of gravity (CG) was need to maintain excellent playability off turf. The RocketBallz Fairway Wood was developed with a high-strength 455 steel face place that is welded to a cast body. Improved sold geometry and a 'Speed Pocket' was incorporated to improve overall face and head flexibility. A slightly deeper face with a further-forward center of gravity location was also produced.
RocketBallz Fairway Woods Promote Up to 17 Additional Yards
RocketBallz fairway woods combine RocketBallz technology with increased face size, advanced playability features, low center of gravity and a lightweight shaft and grip. When these elements are combined, you get a remarkable increase in distance - up to 17 more yards over comparable steel fairway woods. RocketBallz fairway heads are shaped more traditionally, yet are still extremely forgiving. The center of gravity is lowered and pulled forward to promote a lower spin-rate and higher launch angle. The creates launch conditions that promote greater distance.
White Crown and Black PVD Clubface Promote Easy Alignment
The RocketBallz fairway woods feature a flat white crown color and black PVD clubface that provides optimum contrast. This makes it easier to align the face accurately at address. The white crown color also eliminates the "hot spots" and glare that are often a common issue with gloss-finish metalwoods.
Tour Shaft Options
The RocketBallz Tour fairway wood features a Matrix Ozik RUL 70 75-gram graphite shaft in three flexes and is available in a right-handed version only. If you are looking for more shaft options, the
RocketBallz Tour TP fairway wood is also available. The Tour TP version gives you the option of 25 different shafts. If you are a left-handed golfer or would like more flex options, check out the standard
RocketBallz fairway wood.

I recently tried this club at a local golf show and was impressed with how great it felt. I then purchased the club and WOW. The ball absolutely flies off the club face. I have been using the same 3 wood for the past 10 years ( old reliable) and although it was tough to part with I gained more than 25 yards. The club will not help you hit it any straighter, in fact I am in the process of really figuring out this club compared to my old one, but it sure does add distance. Used it for the first time on the course on Saturday and I was hitting it further than my buddy's driver. Overall the look and feel of the club is excellent.
