Bertha Diablo Hybrid #3 Stiff
5/20/2009
Straight and long with a solid feel that exudes confidence. It replaced the Nickent 3dx, which I hit well, but not as well as the Diablo. Be sure to test the club for the right flex. I'm a 90-95 swing speed.. but regular shaft tended to hook and spray the ball. Stiff was just right for me. I'm killing 'em right down the middle, with a piercing ball flight. I'm so convinced, that I'll probably demo the #2 hybrid. It's that good.

Jason, the rounded rear edge of the hybrid when set flush with the turf will make the club face close slightly to help reduce slice tendencies and get the ball up a little easier. Its pretty standard with most game improvement hybrids.

If you are able to swing at a frequency which requires a stiffer flex then you may benefit from that flex. I would be sure to demo the hybrid locally before making your final decision as you may see slight differences with shafts different from what your friend is using.

Which irons do hybrids replace? I hit my 6 iron 170-175 yards, so what would be a good replacement for say a 4 or 5 iron?

Thank you for your inquiry in regard to hybrids. Hybrids will replace any iron needed if possible. Typically hybrid lofts will range anywhere from 15 degree (1 iron) to 28 degree (5 iron) depending on the manufacturer. If you are looking to replace your 4 iron or 5 iron, you will need a hybrid with a loft range from 24-28 degree.
