Manufacturer Description

The TaylorMade Penta TP5 golf balls are the only balls that finally deliver ultimate performance for every golfer. You no longer have to be a PGA Tour player to experience Tour-like results. The secret is in the 5 layers. Starting at the new softer React core, the construction results in significantly lower driver spin, giving you a softer feel and drastically increased distance. Skipping ahead to the cover, its cast thermoset urethane designs delivers high greenside spin and incredible soft feel. So you sacrifice nothing on and around the green.

  • High COR for speed and low compression to ease driver-spin for maximum distance
  • Resilient-yet-supple composition boosts speed yet feels soft
  • Works with inner layers to build speed and outer layers to manage spin
  • Works with middle mantle to maximize speed and with soft cover for high greenside spin
  • Cast thermoset urethane delivers soft feel and high greenside spin

Taylor Made Penta TP5 golf balls
6/13/2012
I admit it, I'm a golf ball snob. For years played the ProV1. When Taylor Made made the offer for buy2 dozen, get 1 free, and coupled with the reviews I had read, I purchased them. Excellent ball. Long but still holds green well. I'm buying 2 more dozen before the offer disappears.

Best ball for chipping and short irons. Easily as long orlonger than Pro V1. Good spin control on medium and long irons. Since switching from the Pro V1 two years ago, the Penta is the only ball I play.

Buy 'em, Try 'em, .... I love 'em !

While I may be just a mid-handicap player, I have played this game since 1963. That's a lotta golf and a lot of different balls tried over the years. The TaylorMade Penta is so much better a ball than anything else on the market today, you have GOT to buy 'em, try 'em, and I really do think you'll love 'em. I did not notice any distance loss off my driver, but as in similar reviews, I found my shots to the green sticking closer to their impact point. Short game feel, including putting with these TP 5 balls, is phenomenal ! You've nothing to lose in this bargain !

TP5 - Quality Golf Ball

I've been using the pro v1x for some time and really do like them. However, when I saw these for sale (buy 2 get 1 free), I figured why not try them. At first, I could really notice a softer feeling ball right from the first hit. With that, I should say that on the average drive, I was probably coming up 5-10 yds shorter than if I was using pro v1x. What made up for that was the stopping ability on the green. I can't tell you how many times I have skipped up to and past the green using longer irons, but with these balls, I was getting good stop. On shorter irons, you'll get excellent lift and a consistent drop and stop or if you're more aggressive a decent backspin with the TP5. If you're moving up from a cheap ball, like slazenger, you'll really notice a difference. 1 of the guys I was out with was using RAW slazenger, a hard - built for distance ball, and after trying the tp5, he's now a tp5 guy. Putting was what really won me over! The ball comes off my putter like a dream. Instead of almost banging off the putter like with harder balls, it feels like it softly pops off the putter. I probably never had a better putting day and it was the first day I tried the tp5. The only negatives, in my opinion, was 5-10 yards shorter drives (vs pro v1x) and the ball seems to get scuffed up easy if you hit the cart path. I can't say that's an absolute, I only hit the cart path 1 time, but it did leave a pretty nice scuff mark. If you factor in the quality of the ball, the soft feel, stopping ability and price, it's a better deal than the pro v1x. I'm happy to sacrifice a little distance off the drive for better control everywhere else.

I have played Titilist PRO VI ,NXT TOUR,for over 15 years. In my opinion this is the best ball on the market for average golfers. Off the tee it flys, strait, chip shots hold the green, putting always hits the mark. Buy 2 and get 1 free before they find out how good this ball is. Tim

The current TP5 vs. TP3. The TP3 is a low compression, 3 piece tour level ball made for slower swing speeds. The TP5 is their 5 piece Tour ball made for all swing speeds and offers spin, feel and distance on all shots. Compared to the prior Penta ball the current has a firmer cover. Complaints about the prior model was that it was too soft around the greens. Thanks.
