Technical Data

Swing Speed
Swing speed is a measure of velocity, in miles per hour, of how fast the club head of a golf club is traveling at the point it makes impact with the golf ball. Swing speed can be recorded by a launch monitor or other electronic radar devices.

Handicap
Balls designed for higher handicap golfers generally have harder covers that result in lower spin rates with irons and drivers. Balls designed for low handicap golfers tend to offer your more control and spin.

Feel (Compression)
Feel is a term that considers the firmness or compression of the golf ball. Typically the softer the golf ball feels, the lower the compression rating. A general rule of thumb about golf ball compression is that players with a lower swing speed should use a lower compression ball to take advantage of the added spring affect.

9 Iron Spin
9 iron spin is regarding the backward rotation of the golf ball in flight or the measured rate of that rotation. Most golfers think of backspin more in relation to shorter irons and wedges. Backspin is what causes some wedge shots to "back up" on the green, or roll backwards after hitting the green.

Manufacturer Description

The Nike One Vapor Speed Golf Ball is optimized for amateur players who desire longer distance off the tee. 3-piece ionomer blend, reformulated core and optimized aerodynamics increase the Nike Vapor ball speed and maximize distance off the tee. The Nike Vapor compression rating is 61 and it's designed for the skilled amateur player with a swing speed between 85 and 100 mph. According to Nike, the combination of the new optimized aerodynamics of the 336 dimple cover and the inner “power transfer” layer results in greater velocity, distance and control with clubs through-out the bag.

  • Reformulated to improve feel and increase speed off the average amateur swing speed.
  • Advanced polymer layer maximizes velocity, distance and control throughout the bag.
  • New optimized aerodynamics and seamless ionomer blend add length and consistency.

Peels like an onion

This ball is good off the tee, but it peels like an onion if the swing speed on your irons is over 80 mph.

Great Golf Ball
5/2/2011
I have been playing golf for over 40 years, used every hot ball that has come out. Been a pro v-1 user for past few years. I decided to use the Nike Vapor Speed after reading the Golf Digest article on ball selection a few months ago. What a great surprise....I hit it farther, it held the greens well, and it shows very little wear. Half the price too! Jim
