what's the major difference between the E6 and the b330?
Dave Schmidt
12/07/2010 11:40 AM
The e6 is a 3 piece golf ball and the B330 and B330S are 4-piece golf balls. Also, the B330 lineup has urethane covers which generate slightly better feel, while the e6 has the surlyn cover. The only other difference is the compression, in which the e6 is a much softer golf ball for your slower swing speed golfers.

Don Formiller

The e6+ produced a little more spin that the new e6. The e6 allows for less spin off of the driver which results in better accuracy off of the tee. Thanks!

Hi, thanks for the question. The E6 is not a tour ball, where the B330-RX does have a urethane cover. You will get more spin out of the B330-RX, but will get a straighter ball flight out of the E6. Also, the E6 has a lower compression and will feel slightly softer at impact. -Parker

The new e6 has an enhanced anti-sidespin inner layer making your long game more accurate. The B330 RX ball is a high spin ball which demands better ball striking. If you are looking to increase your spin around the greens the B3330-RX is great, if you have issues with a slice/hook you may want to stick to the lower spinning e6.

What is the difference between the e6 and the e6+
12/31/2009 11:35 AM
The main difference you will notice is the side spin. The inner layer of the new e6 reduces the side spin rates keeping more of your drives in the fairway than ever before. The compression is still low keeping the same great feel as in previous e6 models. This is a better golf ball.

Jerry, the shelf life of the golf balls if stored in a climate controlled area is non existent. The balls will perform to the standards they were produced at the time. If you are playing an older golf ball you may notice differences from performance of newer balls but that is due to advances in technology not because the ball is "dead". Only storing balls out doors or in non controllable climates will you notice the balls only last around 2 years in most cases.

Golf balls certainly do have a shelf life. Ever been to the driving range, and no matter what club you hit, 4 iron to wedge, they all seem to travel the same distance? I play to a 10.3 index and hit 5 irons on average about 225yds. I hit range balls and I'm lucky to get 175 to 180 out of them. Same with a pitching wedge. Normally with Pro V1's, I have a range of 140 to 150, at the range, lucky to get 100 yds. out of them.

Comparing golf balls in a controlled climate - on a shelf in a closet - to balls at a driving range is ridiculous! Range balls are hit hundreds (if not thousands) of times, run thru a cleaning machine and hit again. They are likely to be hit off of various equipment, run over by mowers, etc. The comparisaon you make is foolish!

Are not range balls manufactured differently for the extra abuse they receive? I factor in the difference from 'range distance' to 'course distance.' My course distance will a 'normal' ball is always about 10-30 yards better than the 'range rocks'. For fun, take a range ball onto course and compare. At PGA events, the range balls are new Titleists to match the course balls the pros may use. Pros switch out balls after they go 'out-of-round' which is determined by a Acu-Check tool. I think the

Golf balls stored in a controlled climate, (not outside in the elements, not stored in a 100 degree temperature,)will lose ONE YARD per year. That means, obviously, if you store your golf balls for ten years they will lose only ten yards of carry. Most of us could never tell the difference until it reaches that ten year mark.

Thank you for your question.
This is a perfect question for a company that started out selling used golf balls! Really there is only one down side; the length of time the ball spent in the water. If it's one that has been in the water for months then it stands a much better chance to become "out of round" so that the performance of the golf ball is compromised. This is rare due to the fact that used golf ball retriever is a big time business and ponds/lakes have balls fished out of them

Storing golf balls at room temp in your house is ideal. In regards to storing golf balls in cold temperatures or hot temps for that matter, temperature will eventually have an effect on a golf ball but only after a long period of time. I have been told by PGA pros and watching Golf Channel that golf balls go bad.....depending on conditions they are stored in.
Out doors (like range balls) couple months.
Indoors...No issue.
Extremes make all the difference.

Range balls are typically low compression in addition to being hit THOUSANDS of times. These are the two reasons distance suffers. Why Pros hit the range they use the identical balls they play with. Not typical range balls. I worked at the 5 Bethpage courses as a college student and this is how we rolled at the range.

In harsh/cold conditions a lower compression ball will compress easier -- thus hoefully giving better control. Also, on the way to the course, I keep a few balls by the floor heater to keep them warm. When on the course keep a few in your pants pocket so your b

Thank you for your comments, and you're right it certainly does feel that way. While I feel your pain I don't think there is anything we can do about it!

I agree - golfballs.com should add a "Send Golf Gear to the Heroes" contribution box to each order form so folks can donate as a way to say thank you. Overstock.com, for example, does that with the Wounded Warrior Project.

Take care of our Military. If I knew you helped them , not only in Iraq, but in all areas, what publicity that would be. I would make all my purchases with you, just for taking care of them.
